Cornwall

A long time ago, in a land far way at the edge of the kingdom, an idea was conceived. I was under the impression it was a long way and it would take a long time. Neither of these two concepts were true. I took 5 days to complete the 50 odd miles. It was a good walk. 21 years later, I did the same in two days, this is not that story.

The love affair started in 2002 When staying in St Ives, my first official holiday as an adult. I thought after seeing so many beautiful places, I was inspired to walk the South West coast path from Marazion to St Ives. I arrived in the afternoon at Penzance on August 14th a Saturday.

What I couldn't have known at the time was I had started a long standing tradition with hiking in Cornwall that continues to this day. Something I have shared and passed on to my Son and previous partners and friends. I have started my 2026 adventure but, there is a discussion and a booking. You can follow us by visiting the main page and clicking the icon. Also there are a couple of podcasts.
'Greetings from the end of the kingdom'
& '5 nights in the south west'. these are all part of the 'Hikenpod' podcast
on 'The Last Broadcast' channel.
By design, I wanted a website, I could upload to and share information, a blog and photos to. In 2004, that was a tall order really. By comparision, data was a premium and slow, images were huge. When I revisited my images from back then, they are tiny by todays standards. Now this site is different matter, 20 years later I get the site I wanted, something I can access on my smart phone, record and write. In 2004, I was using the 1st generation windows phone and I thought it was awesome.
I have just managed to get it working again with the Last Broadcast number. The technology is still stuck in the early naughties but it will make a good back up phone. That is all for now.
